What was supposedly a group of 8 became only Rachel, Lalaine and I last Wednesday in the 300 special screening for Ex Libris Philippines. It was awesome. I wasn’t into epic films, really and I think this was the first movie I’ve seen in its entirety (as in no Troy, Ben-Hur, Spartacus, Braveheart…)
Anyway, 300 wasn’t the best movie I’ve seen, but it’s really great. For one, it wasn’t that long, and there were numerous fight scenes, but they’re artistically done despite all the heads rolling and bloods spurting. Rach, Laine and I had a great time drooling over the barrage of Spartans in six-pack abs and briefs, hahaha!!! Especially with Gerard Butler as King Leonidas when he was making muni-muni against the backdrop of the moonlight, in his naked glory. Syempre nakatalikod naman. But just imagine if your husband would be like that every night, hahaha! And another thing, I can’t help but think of Taylor Hicks whenever I look closely at King Leonidas. Weird talaga. =)
Since I have zero idea on who does what in the film, I was expecting Dominic West to do all these fighting scenes but there was none. His role was satisfactorily short. When he was stabbed by the Queen, almost half of the people in the theater clapped. Well, served him right. Just watch it, you’ll see why.
Tons of reviews and blog entries are being devoted to 300 now I stopped reading =). I hope you can all watch the movie.
One of my favorite lines in the movie, which I’m still finding the best opportunity to use in the office (hahahaha!!!):
“Spartans, enjoy your breakfast! For tonight, we dine in heeeeeeeeeelllllll!!!!!!”
