pass the ball

An hour before the end of my official work hours, I was approached by my Operations Director to research on a labor advisory. She said both she and our Chief gave up trying. I gladly took it, hoping a little internet stalking would solve the problem. As much as most Philippine government websites are already pretty satisfactory, I ended up with nothing. I called the agency which I thought was the best one to address the concern but I found myself being referred to several attached agencies, with each personnel getting irritated as they probably were on their way out their office door when I called.

In the end, I got no accurate response, even various conflicting information.  I will try again tomorrow; I still have more offices to bug. Funny though that DFA itself cannot provide an answer when it is the immediate go-to agency for official queries like what I have. I somehow understand why my bosses gave up on it.

I began thinking of how we operate as representatives of a foreign government. We might be giving the same kind of service without us recognizing it – because government offices are made to never perfectly work coherently with other agencies. Chances are, misinformation and misunderstanding will always occur. That’s probably the essence of its existence. Peace out.
