Teaser Tuesdays (The Ugly Duchess)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

In between my zombie-fest, I’m indulging myself in Eloisa James’ fourth book in her Happy Ever After series, The Ugly Duchess.  I am sharing a teaser which amused me.  See, when you are inside a Regency romance novel, this is how you tell someone he is drunk/sloshed/tipsy:

I’ve never seen you three sheets to the wind.  Are you about to cast up your accounts, or will you just sway gently all night?  You look like a hollyhock that someone forgot to stake!

I wish I can use that soon.  I wonder how drunk people will take it. Hahaha.

  1. Funny teaser! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  2. Lol, that’s absolutely fantastic! I’ve never read any of her books before, though I constantly see them at work. I just might have to pick this one up!

    My TT!

  3. You would undoubtedly just confuse them. But it would be fun to use the language. My teasers this week are from Under the Desert Moon by Emma Meade and Tears in Rain by Rosa Montero. Happy reading!
